Take the first fish you catch; open it's mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Matthew 17:27
The context of this unlikely catch was a question of whether Jesus paid the temple tax (v. 24).
Jesus instructed Peter to catch that fish, which had the exact amount to pay both His and Peter’s tax! Perhaps in part it was a reminder to Peter—and to us—that God is a provider who is always with His children as they follow Him.
Have you ever had a check show up in your mailbox at the right time or a hospital bill be taken care of for you? While catching a fish and finding a coin sounds unlikely, God will make a way for his children!
I remind myself daily to look around and be thankful and grateful for everything that I encounter. Waking up, a safe house to live in, a car that runs, a job, and the list goes on and on! Even if my bank account is low, I remind myself that my bills are paid. God has and will continue to provide for me. And He will for you!
When you are down, look around at all he has done for us. You may be going through a storm, but God can calm it and bring you through it.
I pray that you have a wonderful April!
