For many years I thought Advent was only celebrated on the Sundays in December. I knew it was about Christmas but that's about it. Last year, I came across a podcast - The Strong Women Podcast - that had a segment all about advent. I was in awe while listening to this podcast! Advent was explained more indepth and I was in LOVE with this season! I learned that advent is a time of waiting , hope and expectation, remembering that God's people waited about 4,000 years from the first promise of a Saviour to the birth of Jesus. It continues with our anticipation for the second coming of Christ!
Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love are the weekly themes of Advent. What I learned from that podcast is that these themes can be studied daily. This Christmas season I have started a daily devotional for Advent. I am delving into the lives of 3 women - Mary, Elizabeth and Anna. These woman had promises of Hope fufilled by our Almighty!
What do you hope for? How does it feel to wait with anticipation of that being fulfilled? What does it mean to have hope in God? How is this hope different from hoping for other things?
May you have a blessed Christmas and anticipate the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ!
